How Electrolysis Works:

  • Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal to date! A probe that resembles a small wire is inserted into the hair follicle alongside the hair. An electric current passes through the probe into the follicle, effectively destroying the follicle forever!

  • Electrolysis is a scientific method for permanent hair removal that utilizes electrical energy to destroy hair follicles. Here's a breakdown of the process:

    1. Targeted Probe Insertion: A thin, sterile probe, about the width of a hair, is inserted directly into the targeted hair follicle.

    2. Energy Delivery: There are two main types of electrical currents used in electrolysis.

      • Direct Current (DC): This creates a chemical reaction within the follicle, producing sodium hydroxide (lye) that breaks down the follicular tissues responsible for hair growth.

      • High-Frequency Alternating Current (AC): This generates heat within the follicle, effectively cauterizing the blood supply that nourishes it and damaging the hair germ cells, hindering future hair growth.

    3. Treatment Completion and Hair Removal: Once the appropriate amount of energy is delivered to destroy the follicle, the probe is removed. The hair itself can then be easily extracted, as it's no longer nourished by the blood supply.

    4. Permanent Hair Reduction: Electrolysis targets the root cause of hair growth – the follicle itself. By destroying the blood supply and hair germ cells, electrolysis permanently disables the follicle's ability to produce new hair growth.

The Three Types of Electrolysis:

  • Thermolysis utilizes high-frequency electrical current to achieve permanent hair reduction. During the procedure, a probe delivers the current inside the target hair follicle. This current generates localized heat, effectively cauterizing the blood supply that nourishes the follicle and desiccating (drying out) the follicular cells responsible for hair growth.

    Thermolysis Variations: Tailoring the Approach

Thermolysis offers two primary variations to address specific needs:

Flash Thermolysis (Automatic): This method employs a brief, high-intensity current pulse delivered in a fraction of a second. The probe requires precise insertion into each follicle for optimal results.

Manual Thermolysis: This technique utilizes a lower-intensity current for a longer duration, typically ranging from 3 to 12 seconds per follicle. While requiring more time per application, it offers a high degree of control.

    Equivalent Efficacy with Skilled Application

When performed by a qualified professional, both flash and manual thermolysis methods achieve permanent follicle destruction with equal effectiveness. The selection of the appropriate technique depends on factors such as the client's skin type, hair characteristics, and desired treatment speed.

  • Galvanic electrolysis leverages a targeted chemical reaction to destroy the hair follicle. A slender probe is inserted into the follicle, followed by the application of direct current (DC) electricity. This current triggers a chemical reaction within the follicle, producing sodium hydroxide (lye). The generated lye acts as a caustic agent, effectively dissolving and disintegrating the targeted follicular tissue, thereby hindering future hair growth.

    Treatment Duration: Ensuring Precision

Galvanic electrolysis treatment necessitates the insertion of the probe into each individual hair follicle for a precise duration, typically averaging around 30 seconds per hair. This meticulous approach ensures the effectiveness of the treatment while minimizing the impact on surrounding tissues.

  • The Blend Method offers a comprehensive hair removal solution by merging the principles of galvanic and thermolysis methods. It delivers both direct current (DC) and high-frequency alternating current (AC) simultaneously to the targeted hair follicle. This unique fusion creates a dual-action effect within the follicle, leveraging both chemical and thermal reactions for hair destruction.

The synergy between these currents proves particularly advantageous for clients who may not be suitable candidates for Flash Thermolysis procedures. Blend electrolysis offers the potential for enhanced efficacy in these cases.

Treatment Duration Tailored for Individual Needs

Similar to other electrolysis methods, blend electrolysis necessitates probe insertion into each hair follicle. The treatment time varies depending on the specific needs but typically ranges from 3 to 15 seconds per hair. This method is often chosen for clients with highly distorted follicles, where Flash Thermolysis might be less effective.
